About Us  This webite was created in 2002 by Bruce Topp, an industrial psychologist who spent most of his career in human resources developing recruitment and examination programs for public agencies.   A surfer and photographer, Bruce created SurfHumor.com as a venue for sharing surfing stories, jokes, and a few photos from northern California.

With the revolution in digital photography (and thousands of dollars in equipment) SurfHumor evolved into a platform for surf photos. This resulted in some curious looks when we told people that they could find their surf photo on a gag website. So we created NorcalSurfPhotos and have been transitioning to the new name over the last few years. Surprisingly, the SurfHumor URL is linked to other websites all over the country and in places like Brazil, France, and Japan. For this reason visitors see the old name floating about.

Identifying Surf Spots  Over the last five or six years a handful of locals have complained about our posting photos that could publicize their break. On the other hand, a few hundred have thanked us for the photos. While NorcalSurfPhotos has a fairly narrow audience (about 1,000 unique visitors per month) we, too, are dismayed by the commercialization of surfing and the problem of overcrowding. So our policy is not to identify lesser-known breaks or provide real-time surf reports.

Terms Redux  NorcalSurfPhotos was created to spread a little positive karma and provide an opportunity for surfers to purchase high quality photos of themselves at a reasonable price. The photos are not intended for resale, advertising or commercial distribution. So before purchasing prints or downloading images we must insist that you agree to the following conditions. These photos are protected by copyright laws and NorcalSurfPhotos (Topp Consulting) retains all property rights. You declare the photos you purchase are of yourself or a gift for the individual in the photo and you agree not to sell, distribute, or allow the sale or distribution of photos for commercial use or publication. Thanks for respecting these conditions- they are for your protection and ours.  By the way, feel free to use the photos on your Facebook page or blog.
